Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 November 2026

This policy explains how Platform You FZC collects and uses personal data. Platform You FZC (SRTIP, Sharjah, UAE) is the controller of your personal data on the Platform.

We follow the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). For users in the UK and the European Union, we also follow the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. Where other countries' privacy laws apply to you, we follow those too.

Contact: info@theplatformyou.com.

2. ID checks for pros (biometric data)

Pros can choose to complete an ID check run by our provider Didit. It is optional, and passing it adds an "ID checked" badge to their profile. Didit compares a photo of your ID document with a selfie and liveness check, using facial recognition.

  • What happens: Didit processes your ID images and face data to confirm the document is genuine and that the selfie matches it. It then sends us the result and the details read from your ID.
  • Why: to help prevent fake accounts, fraud and impersonation, and to keep users safer.
  • Legal basis: your explicit consent, given on the screen before the check starts. In the UAE, it is also needed to provide the service you asked for.
  • Your choice: the check is optional. If you skip it, your profile is still shown to clients, without the badge. You can withdraw consent by contacting us. If you do, the badge is removed.
  • How long it's kept: Didit keeps ID images and face data only for as long as our account settings with Didit allow. We keep the check result, and the details needed to show you were checked, for as long as your account is open, and then as set out in section 7.
  • No other use: we don't use your face data for anything else, and we never sell it.
  • Automated decisions: the check is automated. If you think it got the wrong answer, email info@theplatformyou.com and we'll have a person review it.

3. Why we use your data, and our legal basis

  • To create and run your account, and show your profile, offers and content (to provide the service you signed up for, under our contract with you).
  • To run ID checks for pros (your explicit consent; see section 2).
  • To send sign-up codes, renewal reminders, service messages, and notifications about new messages, offer claims and saves (contract).
  • To show pros their stats (contract).
  • To manage paid plans (contract, and legal duties such as tax records).
  • To keep people safe, check reports, stop fraud and misuse, and enforce our terms (our legitimate interest in a safe platform, and legal duties).
  • To use automated tools to help spot spam, scams, fake accounts and harmful public content (legitimate interest).
  • To fix problems, protect our systems and improve the app (legitimate interest).
  • To share pros' public profile content on our social channels (legitimate interest; you can ask us to stop or take a post down).
  • To send news and offers from Platform You, only if you agree (consent). You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To follow the law, respond to lawful requests, and establish or defend legal claims (legal duty and legitimate interest).

4. What other people can see

  • Pro, Basic, Business and Brand profiles are public, including to guests who aren't signed in.
  • The "ID checked" badge is shown on profiles that passed. Your ID document, selfie and ID details are never shown to other users.
  • When a client chats with a pro or claims an offer, the pro sees only the client's photo, first name and area.
  • Pros' stats show numbers, not who viewed their profile. When a client saves a pro's page, the pro is told the client's first name.
  • Clients can't see how many claim codes are left on an offer.

5. Who we share data with

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), which hosts the current app and stores its data in the United States (US East, N. Virginia);
  • Google (Firebase and Google Cloud), which hosts the new app and stores its data in the region set for our project;
  • Didit, which runs ID checks for pros;
  • Mailjet, which sends our emails and sign-up codes;
  • du (Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company), which sends phone sign-up codes;
  • Apple, Google and Stripe, which handle payments for paid plans;
  • Anthropic, which powers AI features in the app;
  • professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, where needed;
  • the police, regulators, courts or other authorities, where the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety;
  • a buyer or new owner, if Platform You is ever sold, merged or restructured. They must protect your data in the same way.

Each provider may only use your data to provide its service to us, under a written agreement.

6. Where your data goes

Your data is stored and processed outside the UAE, including in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. When we transfer data out of the UAE, the UK or the EU, we use the safeguards the law requires. For example, we use approved contract clauses (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum), or providers in countries with adequate protection. You can ask us for details.

7. How long we keep it

  • While your account is open, we keep your data.
  • If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, and remove it from backups within 90 days.
  • We keep some records for longer where we must or need to: payment and tax records for as long as the law requires, and records of reports, removals and safety issues for up to 3 years after an account closes, to prevent misuse and defend legal claims.
  • If you move from Pro to Basic, hidden content is kept so you can get it back. Delete it yourself, or delete your account, if you want it gone.

8. Keeping it safe

We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and trusted providers. No system is completely secure. If a data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we'll tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

9. Under 18s

Platform You is only for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your data;
  • correct it;
  • delete it (or use Settings > Delete my account);
  • limit or object to how we use it, including use based on our legitimate interests;
  • send it to you or another service in a common format;
  • stop marketing;
  • withdraw any consent you gave. This doesn't affect anything done before you withdrew it;
  • have a person review an automated decision, such as an ID check result.

Email info@theplatformyou.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We'll reply within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires.

If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain:

  • in the UAE, to the UAE Data Office;
  • in the UK, to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO);
  • in Ireland, to the Data Protection Commission;
  • elsewhere, to your local data protection authority.

11. Cookies on our website

Our website uses only what it needs to work. It doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we'll ask for your agreement first and update this policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
